Furry is three months old. Prior to joining the canine squad Invictus K9, a company that provides search services hunting of wildlife in danger of extinction, wandered homeless in the streets of Zambia, where it is usual that other specimens of their race (Africanis) have a scavengers life.
However, Fury has shown that dogs of race could also develop the skills that have specialized breeds in this work, as are the German shepherd and Belgian shepherd malinois.
Their training will allow you to recognize the scents of weapons, ivory and animal commonly smuggled pangolins as well as traces of illegal cazadotes.
Jaz Crafter, co – founder of K9 Invictus BuzzFeed told him how unusual is the inclusion of dogs as Fury in this work:
“One hundred percent of professional coaches I’ve met in Africa agreed that [the Africanis canis] can not be trained.”
Despite this opinion among experts, Crafter also knew that this race was used informally by hunters , but in return they offered good living conditions these dogs .
So he decided to try. And he sought possible candidates, but people thought he was crazy.
After choosing 33 dogs that underwent several tests, Fury was the winner of this contest.
Although the use of professional dogs is a novelty in Africa, the ties between coaches and their canine assistants have not been slow to narrow.
Crafter mentions that “they would take a bullet for his dog.” And it is literal, as in their day to day facehunters armed illegal.
The advantage of Africanis for this type of work is its easy adaptation to the extreme temperatures of their field work.
Within a year it will determine how suitable is Fury for this mission.
