No, you have not become colorblind, it’s a blue lobster ! Wayne Nickerson, a fisherman from Massachusetts was so lucky to find this blue animal after 35 years in the profession.
Only 1 out of every 2 million animal of this species are blue and is due to an abnormality in their genetics .
Lobsters can be found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, northwest of the Sea Black and parts of the Mediterranean Sea. Lives in rock shelters and has 10 legs, located in the chest. It feeds on worms, bivalves and dead fish, fishing usually overnight.
Specifically, these very rare electric blue specimens are so because they have excess crustocianina, a protein with which they get that color.
The problem? They can not camouflage in the seabed. And they are easier to be captured by predators.
Although this type of lobsters are very rare to find, they can easily be in captivity, according to the type of food they are given.
