Thirty tons of wood were seized by the Military Forces in two collection centers in the village of La Pizarra, in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo.

The 106 cubic meters of this natural resource had been illegally extracted from the Amazon forest by organized armed groups in Putumayo and Caquetá for national smuggling.

The operation revealed that those involved, who did not have the permission of the environmental authority to cut and transport the natural resource, had wood of the achapo and ivory class in their custody. Types of wood characterized by the resistant to the inclemencies of the climate and its weight due to its high density.

In recent years, 124,035 hectares have been deforested in Colombia.
