The whole world has been wondering about the reason behind which elephants can never get cancer, however, US researchers were finally able to solve this mystery. They were able to find out why elephants have this amazing ability not to catch cancer.

Given their size and their longevity (up to 80 years), elephants should in fact have a significant risk of cancer. However, this is not the case.

Of course, the reason is not that they don’t smoke, drink or get high, because if so, then why cats and dogs and many other animals do catch this disease.

To find out, US researchers analyzed all available data on the natural death of elephants.

The Conclusion that they have extracted after long and deep researches is that these pachyderms would have twenty copies of TP53, while the man has only two. This gene plays an important role in cell proliferation in the normal state. It allows producing the P53 protein that controls the cellular response to DNA damage.

.The body has more copies of the gene TP53, the more it produces P53 protein the greater the anti-cancer protection would be.

Obviously this is still basic data, later on scientists will be able to find more suitable and more detailed solutions that may be more profitable for the human race, but it is, at least, a new step towards finding the solution that may eliminate one of the deadliest diseases ever.
