It is not that hard to switch to eco-furniture, or in other words, furniture that is sustainable, made from sustainable forests, has low toxic material levels, and could be easily recycled.
Go green and buy the furniture made from sustainable forests and trees. Some trees, when cut in a specific way, do not harm the environment. Knowing that some trees or types of plants grow so fast and are durable, the first plant that comes on our mind is bamboo.
The widespread plant, mostly grown in China, lasts for long period of time. We are not harming the environment when we use bamboo.
Why should we switch to eco-furniture though? Since most of the furniture is made up of wood, and wood requires cutting trees, which in turn decreases the number of forests, these practices might lead to deforestation.
We do not want that to happen, and we want to save our planet. Contrary to what many people think, eco-furniture is not so expensive. Many young furniture designers are including green furniture in their designs, and making them more “flexible”.
“Flexibility” is another factor to think of when buying furniture. It means that small or medium items could be later made into other types of furniture when we get bored of them.
Instead of throwing your old furniture when you are fed up with it, it is so much better to upcycle your sofa, bed, table, or other items. This way, you would be sparing more garbage ending in landfills or even contributing in decreasing the amount of wastes for treatment.
