A Spring-like atmosphere is prevailing in Lebanon during this period, which extends from late March to mid-June, accompanied with some warm and cold waves, which won’t stay for more than 2 days, as the head of the meteorological department at the Rafiq Hariri International Airport Mark Wahibe confirmed to “greenarea.info”.

Wahibe denied the news that are being circulated through websites and social media about a heat wave that will strike Lebanon next week, explaining that “Lebanon will witness warm winds over the next two days, (coming from North Africa to Lebanon), accompanied by some dust”. He explained that “the winds will reach their peak on Saturday night and Sunday, and will gradually begin declining at the beginning of next week”.

He pointed out that “South Lebanon will be affected by this wave more than the north of Lebanon and the coast, and the temperatures on Saturday will range between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, however, the temperatures will range between 37 and 38 degrees Celsius”.

Wahiba also pointed that “this is the Spring Weather in Lebanon that the Lebanese are familiar with”, adding that “the weather will be accompanied by some cold and warm waves.” He also assured the Lebanese that there is no need to freak out. His clarification comes after reading circulated news on many websites and social media platforms, two days ago, which mention that Lebanon will witness a heat wave that will continue until next week.

These websites predicted, based on news agencies, that the heat wave will continue for about 100 hours as a result of the flow of very warm desert winds. The websites also expected that the temperatures will rise beginning Friday the 13th of May, prior to this heat wave, when the air will become moderately hot to extremely hot.

The websites also mentioned that temperatures will rise again on Saturday the 14th of May, and the weather will become very hot in all areas, including high mountain peaks, until the temperatures in some areas reach 38 degrees Celsius.

They also explained that that the heat wave will continue on Sunday with a slight rise in temperature, becoming higher than the annual average, until temperatures reach 40 ° C.
