On the world environment day 2016, what can we do? We know that wildlife is getting destroyed, forests are getting burned, for the sake of urbanization, animals are getting killed for the sake of fashion, so what’s next? What can we wait for? And how can we act?
We might not be as influential as world leaders are, but for sure, we can affect our surrounding through campaigning and through eco-friendly activities, and an eco-friendly lifestyle.
To mark the world environment day 2016, UNEP has launched its campaign #wildforlife. Everyone can collaborate in his/her own way. I will tell you how I collaborated; it might be a little idea and a little action that might influence people around us.

I opened UNEP’s website, and went to the section “act”. There, I provided my full name, and made the following pledge:

“I won’t enable or allow the Illegal Trade in Wildlife through killing, buying, collecting, gift giving, trafficking or turning a blind eye.

I will use my sphere of influence to help end wildlife crime however it touches or impacts me”.

I received the following certificate for acting:

Capture

There are 675 activities around the world on this day, UNEP’s website mentions. These activities will not bring back an elephant that was killed for his horns, neither will they directly save more rhinos, or end rhino poaching.

However, we fully support these initiatives, and activities, since they add up to bigger actions in the upcoming days, weeks, and months. It is a growing snowball. The snowball effect in environmental issues might be one of the most realistic and logical approaches… Little actions add up to bigger one, so that we become able to save trees, animals, plants, earth, and of course, save ourselves, humans. We are not separated from our environment.
