The Embassy of Poland in Beirut was one of the sponsors of the educational seminar in Byblos – “Birds Conservation Day” that took place on the 4th of June 2016, and was dedicated to, among others, protection of migrating storks in Lebanon.

The project was organized in collaboration with the environmental organization T.E.R.R.E.Liban associationLebanese Wildlife and Bird Watching Association LWBA and a group of Lebanese bird lovers.

The seminar was accompanied by a mini festival for kids.

The killing of migratory birds in Lebanon raises strong emotions in Poland and harms the image of Lebanon. Sixty two species of birds migrate over the Lebanese territory, including symbolic to Poles – storks.

Migration periods are spring and autumn. Unfortunately, some of the birds never reach their feeding grounds in Africa or Europe – they die during their journey, not from fatigue, but from the hands of illegal hunters.
