Speaking at a Los Angeles vigil yesterday, for the victims of the horrific mass shooting at an Orlando gay club on Sunday, Lady Gaga urged those listening to “pledge an allegiance of love” to the victims and their loved ones. Visibly emotional, her voice quavering, Gaga then read the names and ages of the 49 people killed by the gunman in the attack. As arguably one of the biggest gay icons of the new century, Gaga has an obvious personal connection to the L.G.B.T.Q.+ community, a fact plainly evident in her speech yesterday.
