What’s the new danger targeting all of us?? CO2 levels have been steadily rising, and the newest record is 400 parts per million in Antarctica.
According to an announcement from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Wednesday, this is the first time the CO2 level reaches 400 ppm, in 4 million years.
On May 23, the South Pole Observatory carbon dioxide observing station cleared 400 ppm in the remote reaches of Antarctica.
New research published earlier this week shows that the planet as a whole has likely crossed the 400 ppm threshold permanently (at least in our lifetimes).
But what does reaching this level mean? Well, human activities are always harming the environment and the danger of CO2 rising in the atmosphere is not a joke at all. If all countries were to implement what was agreed upon in the Paris Agreement, perhaps the danger won’t increase anymore.
The increase in CO2 levels will affect many plant species, affect climate change, and affect the large deterioration in our planet and life.
