A 150-strong business delegation from the Italian province of Marche comprising 30 provincial officials and 120 economic activists in various fields will visit Tehran next week for expansion of economic ties.
Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) reported this on Monday, adding the representatives of Italian trade companies include economic activists in the fields of agriculture and food industry, furniture, construction, interior designing, automation, jewelry, renewable energies, pharmaceuticals and medical biotechnology, cosmetic products, sporting goods, fashion design, tourism and cultural affairs.
The delegation headed by Marche Region Governor Luca Ceriscioli will arrive in Tehran on July 11 to conduct business negotiations with Iranian officials as well as the private sector to investigate possible opportunities for investment in Iran.
The Italian delegation will then leave Tehran for Sari in northern Iran to visit various production centers in Mazandaran province and hold direct talks with businessmen there.
Prior to the imposition of sanctions, Italy was Iran’s biggest trade partner in the European Union and the two countries’ transactions stood at a record amount of 7.5 billion euros, which was then declined to 1.4 billion euros during the years of sanctions.
In mid-April, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi heading a 250-strong political and economic delegation visited Iran and signed seven MoUs in the fields of culture, tourism, industrial cooperation, railway and airport construction, oil and gas, renewable energy, etc.
