The Rio Olympics are spectacular, for a number of reasons, and most importantly because they are taking place in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Knowing that this country is full of environmental wonders, especially the Amazon forest, this aspect (the environmental) will surely be part of the festival’s opening ceremony.
While the internet is full of articles talking about this festival, we saw that it’s important to highlight the environmental aspect of it, knowing that hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit Brazil for the event.
UNEP is promoting sustainable travel practices through its ongoing Green Passport campaign, which advises visitors on how to reduce their impact on the environment while also making their stay more interesting and relaxing. It is available on the web and via a free smartphone app.
