We have such a huge problem, and a catastrophe with this government.

Whenever we try to ignore its presence, and to focus on the core of matters, we collide with its (the government’s) insistence to be an obstacle.

There are two ministers that I avoid writing about, for several considerations, and they are the Ministers of Environment and Minister of Agriculture, but their actions prevent achieving this, despite sincere wishes that they would be right, and not us.

Today, Minister Akram Chehayeb informed us about two good news; the first is that “CDR” is fully practicing its role, regarding the waste file, and this is an important testimony, which probably all the Lebanese agree with him on.

The second good news is that the garbage will not return to the streets of Beirut and other Lebanese regions, and that the contract has been signed for “Costabrava.” However, with our sincere wishes that he is right, we have to mention that he has sated the Lebanese people with peremptory promises in this issue, and the results have only been stinking odors, which are still present until now.

Behind the scenes, there is a talk about a major deal that is being prepared regarding this file, and that accurate quotas are being formulated, then undone, until coming back to life.

The worst of the solutions that have been tried during the previous years, has been the continuation of quotas, the increase in prices, the expansion of the scope of unpleasant odors, and the garbage’s return to the streets … and the officials’ insistence on their promises!
