Russian feature cartoon Space Dogs Adventure to the Moon is set to premiere at American movie theaters on August 26, said the press service of its production company KinoAtis.
“Universal Studios and Epic Pictures Group Inb., are the distributors of the movie. The sequel of the story of two dog cosmonauts will show on 200 screens across the country in over 50 large movie theaters like AMC, Megaplex and Ultra Star.”
The film is rated G, and tells the story of two dogs, Belka and Strelka, on a mission to find what is causing terrible mishaps on planet Earth. Their search leads them to the dark side of the Moon, on a mission where no pup has gone before.
The American version has been voiced over by well-known actors like Alica Silverstone, Ashlee Simpson, Kira Buckland, Sam Witwer, Phil LaMarr and others.
Singer Kari Kimmel recorded several songs especially for this version of the movie, all under the watchful eye of the American director Mike Disa, who previously worked on cartoons like Casper and Pocahontas.
In Russia, the movie is known as Belka and Strelka-2, and it came out in 2014. This past May, its producers announced that there will be a third part of the movie, voiced by famous Russian actors, the release date has yet to be announced.
