The Italian Embassy in Ghana will collaborate with the Energy Commission to organise the next renewable energy fair. It follows the successful second edition of the fair in Accra.

The event, which brought together innovators, manufacturers, investors, experts, and policy makers to trade as well as discuss policies and prospects of renewable and efficient energies, ended on Thursday August 11.

Director of Renewable Energy at the Energy Commission Kobina Otu Dankwa, speaking to Class Business, was satisfied with the level of participation in the just-ended fair.

“Last year we organised it together with the Germans, but this year we went all alone and I think I can say that we have not done badly. We keep chalking successes. Last year, it was good, this year it’s better, and in fact when the idea was conceived, we decided that it should be held on an annual basis. So, from the way things have gone, I think we will sustain that and hold it every year,” he stated.

“What is very interesting is that the Italian ambassador has just got in touch with us and has promised to team up with us in the organisation of next year’s fair. He wants to bring Italian companies to come and exhibit, which is a plus, and we expect that other countries and other governments and developing partners will also follow suit and come and partner us.”

He noted that his expectation was to see the fair become big and one of the most well-organised fairs in West Africa, if not the whole of Africa.
