Heavy fog and mist formed in parts of the UAE, causing poor visibility on roads on the first day of classes on Sunday.

Dense fog reduced horizontal visibility to 50 metres in Al Minhad at 6am and to 400 metres in Liwa at 5am, according to a tweet from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

Fog also formed in Al Aweer in Dubai, Maliha, Al Madam, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Al Abiad and Madinat Zayed.

Forecasters raised the orange warning over the coast to caution motorists to stay alert as the coastal areas of UAE will have humid conditions in the early mornings of Sunday, causing fog or mist formation.
