The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) will build a solar power plant with capacity to produce 200 megawatts of energy and upgrade power grids by 2025 to meet the increasing demand, said Mohammed Saleh, Director-General of the authority.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Saleh said the authority spent AED2.7 billion to develop water and electricity services in its areas in the past three years.Twenty-three power plants were built, 34 existing plants were upgraded, 375 kilometres of water supply systems were installed, and water tanks with storage capacity of 73 million gallons were built between 2014 and 2016, he noted.

The federal authority is developing a strategic plan to upgrade its supply systems and power grids by 2025, he added.
