A team of biologists from the University of Clemson (South California, United States) has revealed that the lizards are the first animals to become extinct from the Earth due to the effects of global warming, reports NPR, as cold-blooded reptile gets affected to the change in the climate of our planet, because it helps them regulate their own body temperature.
This conclusion confirms largely the results of research that the University of Santa Cruz (California, USA) conducted in 2010, when they predicted the death of 40 percent of lizards in the world, 20 percent of species.
Responsible for the most recent study, Michael Sears biologist, points out that the computer model that used the Californian school assumes that this reptile “can find shade when they want” when, to achieve that purpose, “needs energy and time.”
Research conducted by Sears has concluded that the lizards take less time to regulate their body temperature when they find many small areas of shadow, which the distribution of plants and rocks of places affect each species differently.
