Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded a Moscow school girl with a medal for saving people in trouble.

Yulia Korol, a student of Moscow lyceum No.1571, saved several people during a storm on Lake Syamozero, the Republic of Karelia, in June this year.

Korol received the award for bold and resolute actions for saving people in extreme conditions, Putin wrote in a decree published at the official portal of legal information on Tuesday.

Three boats with a children’s tourist group turned over in a storm on Lake Syamozero on June 18 this year. Eleven children and one adult instructor died. Four people are still missing.
