A team of researchers from the CIMUS NeurObesidad in Santiago de Compostela, has discovered an effective method against obesity without starving. In a study desevela that the key is a protein that is added in the brain and is able to convert white fat into brown fat.

The experiment was conducted in rats suffering obesity and after introduce a protein known as BIP, animals lose weight without stop feeding. In addition, rats used in this study improve metabolism and reduce their diabetes.

This finding will help identify new therapeutic for the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome, which are currently reaching epidemic proportions in westernized societies targets, “he adds Dr. Cristina Contreras, one of the authors of the study published in the journal Diabetes’.

The researcher herself in a statement reaffirms “the need to further deepen these early results,” though she says that much remains to be discovered to tackle the problem of obsesidad.
