For starters, soy has high content of folate, vitamin K, calcium, magnesium, iron and fiber. It also has lots of other minerals, vitamin B12, omega 3 fatty acids and various antioxidants.

Many studies claim that regular consumption of soy prevents cancer because it contains an isoflavone that increases the activity of the p53 protein, tumor suppressor, especially those related to prostate and breast. This is a controversial point, since other studies show an increased odds of having cancer , especially breast – consuming soy.We recommend that if you have a family history of cancers developed by hormonal issues, consult a doctor before consuming soy in large quantities -three or more times a week, and eating whole soy whenever you can.

It is also used to prevent hot flashes that come to women during menopause, and those who consume it regularly have better health of preventing osteoporosis and improving bone density bones.

The disadvantages

  • Most use highly processed soy products : such as wheat, one of the main problems is that soy is used in many processed products . Soybeans containing some commercial cereals, snacks and breads has undergone a chemical treatment that removes all of its original properties.
  • It can affect your thyroid  (especially if you suffer from hypothyroidism): since soy is a goitrogens sometimes cause thyroid disorders.
  • Another disadvantage is the danger of the cash crops of this.for example in Mexico, where he endangers their sweetest resource, honey. Mexico is the sixth largest producer and third largest exporter (85% to the countries of the European Union) honey , so beekeepers and 40,000 families depend on production.
