Sarotis is a ‘weareable’ which acts as a second skin. A ‘wearable’ that seeks to increase the perception of the user wearing it and use cameras with hydrogel are heated or cooled to simulate temperature changes and feel the full experience as if it were the skin itself.
The Sarotis Project aims to change the way we interact and see the world and get to have a greater perception of everything around. The technology, developed by Ava Aghakouchak and Mary Paneta, recreates physical sensation as if a new skin.
The prosthesis was developed to study whether the space awareness could be amplified, as shares Interactive Architecture of the University College London (UCL). For this, sensors and vision systems connected directly to the body.
Thanks to this ‘wearable’ can improve the perception of the environment visually impaired people and can build virtual spaces within a physical space that users can experience through the prosthesis.
