Magnetic MRO’s new paint hangar is now about seven months away from official opening. Aircraft Paint-shop Production Manager Kaspars Podins says it will not only substantially expand his painting capacity, but establish new technical and environmental standards for aircraft painting in the Baltic region.

The total size of the new facility on two floors will be 2,853 square meters, including hangar, workshops, office area, meeting rooms, client offices and technical-support rooms.

The hangar space for painting will be 1,628 square meters, increasing Magnetic’s total dedicated painting area at Talinn Airport to 4,354 square meters, including the existing painting facility.

The new single-bay hangar will have a custom docking system that can be tailored to serve different aircraft types, making it “one of a kind in the whole region,” Podins says It is also designed for maximum safety, improved airflow, contamination control, temperature and humidity control and lighting and energy efficiency.

A modern, eco-friendly temperature and humidity-controlled ventilation system should assist in providing excellent painting. A specially designed spray booth will support part painting, for example for interior parts.

Both Magnetic’s old and new hangars are designed for narrowbody jets. Podins says the new facility will enable Magnetic to paint up to four narrowbodies per month in Talinn.
