A snowstorm has swept a group of cross-border skiers in the French Alps, killing three of them, emergency services said Tuesday.
“The snowfall occurred in the ski area of Bonifal Sur Arc, at a height of 3,000 meters,” said Cyril Anso, commander of a mountain rescue unit of the police, in the nearby town of Berville to the BfM television station.
“Unfortunately, the bodies of three victims were found. The number of victims is final and the search has stopped. ” “Among the dead was a high mountain guide who led the group,” said relief workers.
“The weather was favorable today, but snow has hit the region recently, which could explain the snowfall,” Anso said. Authorities have yet to announce the names and nationality of the victims
