The training course on extension techniques was completed at the home of the Haidar Ehden Forest – the Jejuite Forest at the invitation of the Northern Environmental Corridor Committee in cooperation with the USAID-funded Project for Forestry in Lebanon. The long day was characterized by expert Gilbert Mukheiber, who dealt with a large number of guides Professionals and professionals The techniques of extension in practice after being highlighted on the first day in the municipality of Gage in theory, and were practical discussions on how to receive visitors in the reserves and in the ecotourism sector in general, tools that must be available with guides, Forests and other topics.
About 30 environmental guides from Gaj, Tannourine, Ehden and various areas of the northern corridor participated in the course.
On the other hand, the home of the Harej Ehden protected area on the occasion of the International Day of Migratory Birds was organized with the aim of organizing the “Lebanese Bird Conservation Alliance” in cooperation with the Municipality of Zagharta-Ehden and the Friends of Harj Ehden.

The activity included walking around the reserve with participants, including a group of boys, university students and more than 80 people who came to observe the birds in the park and monitor their beautiful flight.
After a speech by the director of the conservation, Sandra Koussa, the specialist in surgery and facial and maxillofacial surgery, who was interested in wildlife photography, Dr. Antoine Faisal: Sustainable hunting and how to preserve migratory birds and educate Lebanese youth not to catch and kill these birds randomly, especially with the opening of the official fishing season on September 15 to be Zgharta – The corner and the neighborhood in full readiness to receive it in order to raise awareness about organized fishing, especially as these birds are protected at the global level.
The biodiversity specialist at the Institute of Environmental Studies at the University of Balamand Shadi Inari also spoke about the topic of “how to identify birds by hobbyists”.
“The awareness and dissemination of the issue of migratory birds is one of the main concerns of the working team and it participates regularly in meetings held by MP Suleiman Franjieh with fishermen from all regions to spread the culture of fishing,” she said.
The International Day of Migratory Birds concluded with the Municipality of Zghorta-Ehden and the Committee of the Reserve to revive further activities and to organize photography competitions in this area. Preparations for the upcoming dates will be announced soon.
The Hurj Ehden Reserve continues to receive school trips and students travel through its forests with a number of seasonal guides distributing posters and pamphlets about the importance of the reserve and its uniqueness.
