A number of residents of the town of Kfarhazir staged a sit-in in front of the Shakka cement factories in the town of Kfarhazir. As a result of the sit-in, work was stopped in these unlicensed and random quarries that destroyed the environment of Kafrhazir and removed its mountains and caused the most severe health damage to the townspeople by spreading huge amounts of toxic dust causing various diseases and epidemics. These quarries are unlicensed quarries and are in violation of all laws because they are located above the stream of the Asfour river and over the springs of the Ain Aghash heritage valley and among residential houses that are no longer habitable after being filled with toxic dust saturated with aluminum silicate and calcium. These quarries are also in an area classified as building land and no quarries are permitted. These quarries have also been used on Harash as Kfarhazir, uprooting tens of thousands of historic trees and destroying important parts of it. He called on the protesters to stop these quarries and warned against giving any licenses to them and to load the violators who dug up all the legal responsibility and holidays and the health and environmental damage. The protestors pointed out that the environmental attacks caused by the Shakka cement factories in the town of Kafrhazir and the other villages of Koura are the worst in the world and they clearly highlight the malicious intentions of the Shakka cement factories towards the area of Koura and its people.
