Competition is defined as the battle that is fought in order to obtain what is necessary. It also means any living organism’s defense of a certain source, by reducing this source for the other living things. Hence, competition has a bad effect on living things, and it is considered one of the factors associated with the abundance in the organization of the group.
- The concept of the ecological NICHE: or the so-called exclusion through competition. The Scientist GAUSE says that if the living conditions were similar among two types of living things, then they cannot continue to exist together. In order to illustrate this, we must explain the concept of the ecological niche through the following definition:
It is the environmental characteristics of a certain group or all of the terms and conditions of its existence, in terms of housing and the method of its exploitation of the place, or the functional role that it completes. In other words, the Ecological Niche is just an overall image of the environmental requirements of a certain species within society, and this expresses it (Every group has a distinctive Ecological Niche).
The Ecological Niche is divided to two concepts; the first is the basic Ecological Niche, and it includes all the places and functions that living things can complete or operate. The actual ecological Niche includes all the places and jobs held by the group, under the circumstances of competing with the other types, and the more the group was of a wide ecological niche, the more its chances of winning and having sovereignty over other groups of a smaller ecological niche increase, due to the ecological niche carriers’ adaptation to different habitats, and thus, the offset of the other species.
Finally, we can say that the ecological Niche is just a functional role played by the species and the role they occupy in a specific place within the environmental conditions in which the society exists.

The preservation of the ecological niche is preserving the habitat in order to maintain genetic and species diversity, in addition to ecosystems and biodiversity in general.
