LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), August 11 (SeeNews) – Slovenia’s Environment Agency said it has awarded a permit to Magna International Inc. for the construction of a paint factory in the Hoce–Slivnica municipality, in the country’s northeast.

The government agency has assessed the potential effects of the construction of the factory, named Magna Nukleus, on people, soil, water, air, noise, biodiversity and cultural heritage, concluding that all procedures would be conducted within the permitted levels, the institution said in a statement on Thursday.

In January, Magna International said it will invest into a new paint facility in Slovenia to help support new programmes going into its contract vehicle assembly facility in the Austrian city of Graz, opening 400 jobs.

According to Slovenian media reports, the country’s government has pledged to provide Magna with a 18.61 million euro subsidy, while the total investment in the project will amount to 146.4 million euro.

Canada-based Magna International runs some 309 manufacturing operations and 99 product development, engineering and sales centres in 29 countries. In Serbia, it operates Magna Seating, which makes seating systems for Renault, Ford and Smart.
