Algeria was outperformed by all of the 80 countries surveyed in the 2018 Best Country Ranking, a ranking and analysis project by U.S. News & World Report, Y&R’s BAV Group and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Algeria came at the bottom of the ranking in view of its low score in a range of criteria, from economic influence and power to citizenship and quality of life included in the report that seeks to capture how nations are perceived on a global scale.
In the Maghreb, Morocco came first (47th globally, while Tunisia was ranked 67th. At the African level, South Africa topped the ranking taking the 39th position globally.
Switzerland held the leading position followed by Canada, as countries with more progressive social and environmental policies. Germany came third switching positions with the UK in the fourth position.
Japan ranked fifth followed by Sweden, Australia, the US, France and the Netherlands.
