A week ago, the government met all the administrative departments and representatives of civil society in the big palace, to announce the sustainable environmental strategy, which is good if promises and intentions were ratified.

Multiple observations were received about the adoption of this approach by our site and the content of this announcement and the extent of its credibility, and its conformity with the specifications. Today, we can talk about two evidences for the indication of the sincerity of orientation and the dichotomy between what is proposed and applied, and between the law and the procedures applied by the government, indicating, at least, the complete disregard for the law and the environment.

The soil plant: built in ‘’Zahle’’ and being today moved to another area on the appointed government itself, and the province and the municipalities and the Ministry of the industry itself… And the story back to the beginning without a national plan, without an environmental impact studies and without considering the role of the Ministry of Environment, like we are talking about another country. Any of the concerned is linking this with credibility of what has been said, for not talking about the application of the laws.

Beirut forest: Any country that lacks green space as far as Lebanon should talk about landscaping, and the human right for a clean environment. Contrary to this, and under a cover of darkness, we are offered the attempted murder of our last green spot, under various pretexts, including the establishment of a playground, as if spaces areas in the downtown do not accommodate for this. For example, an unknown group – informed on the launch of a number of rabid dogs in the heart of Beirut forest , with taking an immediate decision to prevent the killing of these dogs. These dogs bidden a woman first, and then a young man from days later, and they still in the hospital. And a decision was taken to close the forest and prevent people from entering, as if it is the only solution for this. And perhaps we will see a decision of selling the forest, because the private sector will transform it to buildings and real estate area!!  It was A major scandal, and in particular in spatial distance away from the Grand palace, where the Prime Minister announced the plan of the famous environmental strategy.
