Minister of Industry, Hussein Hajj Hassan, chaired on Monday a meeting on the support provided by the Lebanese government to exporters, industrialists and farmers, and on whether they could resort to shipping after the closure of Nassib along the Syrian-Jordanian border. Hajj Hassan said, “Discussions focused on the economic and financial studies of the necessary funds to support the maritime transport of exporters, industrialists and farmers to the Gulf countries, Jordan and Iraq.” “Some exporters have used the Turkish passage and others the Egyptian one. We now aim to discover the details and cost of shipping. We want to ask the government to provide the funds required to cover the costs,” he said, noting, in this context, “the positive climate of the Cabinet in support of this.” NNA
