Animals’ intelligence, a true fact that can be measured by many scales and based on many tests, however, when compared to humans’ sometimes the results can be shocking. Many species are known nowadays for their intelligence such as monkeys, dogs, and elephants etc… some studies listed that “animals with bigger brains are more intelligent” however, we will list some of the animals that are really smart while they are smaller in terms of size. First, we will begin with crows which demonstrated that they are very brainy birds. In fact, compared to humans’ their intelligence rivals that of 7 years old’s. A study published in PLoS ONE reported that crows share a sophisticated awareness of cause and effect possibilities that are on par with human skills. Second, honeybees that can count, categorize similar objects like dogs or human faces, and differentiate between shapes that are symmetrical and asymmetrical. These skills showed that honeybees are very intelligent animals even though they are too small. Third, small fish can count up to three, and distinguish between larger and smaller quantities. Fish, as well as dogs, might have really advanced mathematical abilities but scientists are still working on developing tests to measure these abilities that can determine the intelligence of these animals. Fourth and last, cockatoos have been nicknamed the burglars due to their abilities to pick any lock. A study on a Cockatoo in the University of Vienna showed that this animal was able to pick a lock that required him to remove a pin, a screw, a bolt and to turn a wheel 90 degrees, in only 2 hours, this same task could stump many people.
