Dr. Naji Kodeih
Excuse us; do not think that the people do not know the answer. The answer lies in the following saying that is many decades old, just like the history of our country: “Those who attended the marketplace sold and bought,” for this is the prevailing logic since the independence, no one is going to change it, modify it, or jump over it. Everyone is aware of the rules of the game, and of pulling the ropes in order to distribute the cheese of the authority, and the cheese of the public funds, and everyone knows very well about the mechanisms of “eating it”.
On the other hand, the people know that it is a critical circumstance, and that threats are surrounding our country from every direction, and that it is not the right time to stand against deals, but flexibility is extremely required, and calmness is required too, in order to pass what is meant to be passed without any objection or noise, since the status of the country is fragile, and it is not tolerated to shake the status of the government, especially that the republic is without a president, and the Parliament has decreased its  activity to the minimum, and there are different views as to its legislative prerogatives in this very difficult juncture of the history of the Republic. Therefore, it is not the right time to discuss the “waste issue” since it is less than a minor file in these uneasy and unsettling circumstances.
It is the appropriate moment, then, and it may not be repeated in the foreseeable future, and it shall not be missed, a golden opportunity to pass a plan whose cost exceeded USD one billion, but what are one billion dollars compared with the annual losses of the electricity sector? without discussing the content. The content does not matter in these exceptional circumstances, and the moment requires discussing the distribution of quotas, and checking the borders that separate the areas of influence that hold the different “sections”, which make up the “organisation” at the national level. Do not blow on our government, for it has been assembled under the auspices of divine providence, thankfully, in order to save the country from falling into the worst.
So, let us all say nothing, because the phase cannot tolerate the discussion of a waste plan.
