Scientists from the University of Oxford Ad Aalto University in Finland have been able to create an item that shows where we feel most uncomfortable when touched by different people.
Normally, people don’t mind when being hugged by their partners, having their arms all around their shoulders, but no one would like to have a stranger’s hand touching any part of their body.
Scientists were able to relate the “touching” phenomenon to the actual bond between people. Therefore, they made an experiment on different people from different countries such as Britain, Finland, Russia, France and Italy, asking these people to note where others are allowed to touch them.
The general rule was: the more intimate the type of relationship, the more areas of the body it was okay to touch. Turns out no one likes strangers touching their sexy bits. However, the most interesting find from the study was the difference between male and females.
Overall, men were more closed off to physical touching, especially from other males and especially the head and feet. However, women showed a greater change in where there was a no-go zone based on their relationship. In females, as the relationships got closer, more areas of the arms, upper body and head were allowed physical contact.
