touch, the leading mobile telecommunications and data operator in Lebanon, managed by Zain Group, has been awarded two prizes at the prestigious 2016 London Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation Awards ceremony held in London in May 24. The ceremony took place as part of the Telecoms Innovation and Technology summit, bringing together over 300 telecommunication leaders to celebrate the collaboration and partnership between operators and vendors all around the world.

Touch was honored twice for ‘Consumer Service Innovation’. The first time in recognition of its strategy to use wearables for engaging its customers through the touch application for the Apple watch. Developed by FOO, the distinctive watch application allows customers to check their line balance, credit and validity, in addition to bundles (voice, SMS and/or data) consumption, on-the-go and in real-time. The watch application comes to build on the success of touch’s existing mobile application that generated over 850,000 downloads, gathered exceptional customer feedback and received the highest rankings from application stores.

The second award recognized touch for using an augmented reality feature to engage its customers using the touch mobile application, again in collaboration with FOO. Various themed animations, reflecting the end-of-year festive period, were triggered by snapping the touch logo through the camera interface of the mobile application. Customers shared these animations along with selfies and photos creating creative augmented reality art. Customers also mentioned #touchgreetings in their posts and won valuable prizes

Commenting on these awards, the Chief Commercial Officer at touch Nadim Khater said, “Wearables and Augmented Reality are two technologies that are rising with a lot of potential for use cases and innovation. Touch is proud to be awarded on endeavors associated with such technologies fortifying its position as a pioneer in the innovation space. We thank FOO for their valued contribution, GTB for their recognition, and our customers for their engagement and loyalty”

The GTB ceremony brought together telecommunication leaders and executives to discuss how they can best position their companies to take advantage of current changes and trends in telecoms around the world.
