While dogs are less likely to bite in case they were cuddled and rewarded by their “guardians”, especially in the presence of strangers, some dogs’ bites could be very dangerous, and might lead to serious complications.

If you were bitten severely by a dog, here are some necessary steps for quicker recovery, and for less danger:

  • Once you get bitten, the injury will bleed a lot, so place a clean towel over it to stop any bleeding.
  • You should pay lots of attention to hygiene after a dog bite, so clean it carefully with soap and water, then apply a sterile bandage to the wound.
  • To prevent infection, an antibiotic ointment must be applied to the injury every day.
  • If you suffer from any major health conditions, such as diabetes, and liver disease, you might be at greater risk for a more severe infection.
