In Pamplona, Spain, every july, men from all over the world come to take part in the popular running of the bulls San Fermin festival.

This year, on July 13th, one of the six bulls in the race ran up to a group of men who were participating in the race, and stabbed an American in the thigh, and lifted two other men in the air with its horns, the AP reported.

Four Spanish men and an American were transferred to Pamplona after suffering contusions during the running with the bulls in the north of Spain.

The Navarra regional government identified the American as a 39-year-old with the initials M.L.O., and said his condition was not serious.

The running with the bulls, which started at 8am and lasted 2 minutes, was attended by more than 1,000 people, most of them are tourists from all over the world.

The San Fermin Festival, which lasts nine days, is very popular and became world famous because of Ernest Hemingway’s novel ”The Sun Also Rises” from 1926. It is also known for its 24-hour street partying.

Since records of the festival began in 1924, 15 people have died from gorings at the festival.

The morning fighting with the bulls and their accompanying steer along a 930-yard street course to the city’s bull ring. After that, in the afternoon, the bulls face matadors and almost certain death in the bullfights.

The festival always starts at 12:00 on July 6th, with a pyrotechnic program, and it lasts until midnight on July 14.

The most famous event is the Encierro, or the running of the bulls. It takes place at 8:00am from July 7th to July 14th. The bulls are lead through the streets of the old quarter as far as the bull ring, by the runners. This run is short and only lasts a few minutes.

The San Fermin Festival is a traditional event, and is held in honor of Saint Fermin, the co-patron of Navarra.
