The mountain goat or the Rocky Mountain goat, is a large hoofed mammal endemic to North America. A subalpine to alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and ice. These animals are not true goats—but they are close relatives. They are more properly known as goat-antelopes. Mountain goats have distinctive beards and long, warm coats to protect them from cold temperatures and biting mountain winds.
These animals are powerful but nimble and can jump nearly 3.5 meters in a single bound.
However, the city of Seward, Alaska witnessed a terrifying death of a mountain goat that was a victim of people chasing and approaching it trying to get close to it based on reports.
The goat fell many times on the rocky incline and into the waters of Resurrection Bay, which made the animal exhausted unable to run anymore. Unfortunately, the animal drowned after failing to return to the shore that was crowded by onlookers who were trying to take pictures and getting closer to the mountain goat.

This story is one of many and far from being the last in a string of similar needless wild animal deaths at the hands of humans in 2016. With the hope that these actions will stop soon and people will be more aware of the damage they are causing.
