The Lebanese Environmental Movement, its member associations and the Lebanese Golf Club, in cooperation with the United Nations Information Center in Beirut and the United Nations Environment Program, will organize a World Environment Day at 6.45 pm on Monday, 5 June, at the Club, From the club in green in line with the global campaign launched by the United Nations Environment and lighting the natural and tourist attractions around the world to celebrate this day.
The meeting will also include speeches by Lebanese Environment Minister Paul Abi Rashed, Director of the United Nations Information Center in Beirut Margo El Helou, and member of the administrative board and public relations committee at the Lebanese Golf Club Lina Nasser Shawki.
“Combatants and environmental activists who were role models in national environmental action” will be honored.
The meeting is followed by a breakfast.
As part of the global campaign, the following Lebanese landmarks will be illuminated:
Rasheed Nakhla Cultural Center in Barouk – Chouf, House Park – Contemporary,
The Municipality of Saida, the Municipality of Jezzine, and other natural and archaeological monuments.
It should be noted that the United Nations annually celebrates World Environment Day on 5 June 1972.
