In rejecting Trump’s decision to abandon the Paris Climate Convention, Greenpeace International said the decision would cost the United States its global leadership position and share of the economic benefits of switching to clean energy.

Greenpeace International Executive Director Jennifer Morgan said:

“Withdrawal from the Paris agreement will reduce America’s leading position on the global climate agenda and remove it from the rest of the world, a decision that lacks moral sense and Trump will undoubtedly regret: global climate action is not a legal or political record, but a duty to protect man and planet.

Trump relinquishes the global leadership position of the United States to world leaders who take this opportunity to protect their country and climate by transforming their economies into clean energy. We are witnessing a quantum leap in the global system, with Europe, China and others in the lead. ”

“Some 200 countries have committed themselves to working for climate protection in Paris, and only one country has decided to pull out.” Trump looks far from the rest of the world, so we see a change in global leadership positions – the United States is stepping down, but world leaders and presidents Executives and other people can, and will, actually start moving forward. ”

For his part, the senior official in the World Policy for the East Asia region of Greenpeace, Li Xu said:

“Trump is taking his administration in the opposite direction of the rest of the world, and while China plans to shut down coal-fired power plants, Trump is putting off climate work, Trump’s attempt to disrupt the global shift to a safer future based on clean energy will not succeed. This only marginalizes the United States and will provide China with an opportunity to reap the economic benefits of America’s withdrawal. ”

The Director of the Greenpeace Mediterranean Program in the Arab world, Ghalia Fayyad:

“This administration has failed the rest of the world, and climate change is a bitter reality for every living thing on this planet.”

“The Middle East and North Africa region, as one of the most vulnerable to climate change, can not stand idly by: a number of countries, such as Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, are already turning to renewable energy and other Arab countries, whether they are oil producers or not , To follow the example of those two States, and should not comply with the decision of the State behind the Atlantic Ocean. ”

“The climate saving revolution is going on and we will not hesitate to continue in this endeavor whatever happens.”
