The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, presided over by Princess Lalla Hasnaa, has awarded the Blue Pavilion label to Morocco’s 25 cleanest beaches for summer 2017.
In addition to the awarded beaches, a marina located in the city of Saidia received the label of “The Saidia Med, Oriental Station.”
In order to obtain the prestigious Blue Pavilion label, beaches must meet criteria rating bathing water quality, information, awareness and environmental education, hygiene and safety, and development and management of the site.
A committee of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment controls the beaches throughout the year in order to maintain their cleanliness and tidiness.
As for the Marina, the label was given for the well-supervised protection of both coastal and maritime environments against all kinds of pollution.
Two beaches amongst the Blue Pavilion list belong to the city of Saidia. As one of the most popular tourist attractions in northeastern Morocco, it has grown to be more than a city, but a terrestrial paradise.
Located at the northwest corner of the African continent, bordering both the North Atlantic ocean and the Mediterranean sea, Morocco has several strings of creeks, bays, sheltered beaches, harbors and cliffs all of which Moroccans and foreigners alike visit for holidays as well as fishing, scuba diving, surfing, and swimming.
