A new maturity awaits the government later this month, which is the contracting out of wastes in Lebanon

A major issue across the country, that is filled with all kinds of mysteries and difficulties, along with smells, deals, quotas, and the biggest absentee among it is transparency, clarity, vision, the citizens’ interests… and of course, the environment …

The government’s approach in addressing this matter is very strange, even if it actually resembles its approach regarding the national, economic and social files, which can only be described as insanity, abandonment, or the logic of the farm.

Days separate us from an important maturity that affects the whole country, but no one of the concerned parties has a plan for the minimum treatment that would get us out of this reality to another one that provides the continuation of this facility.

Until today, the government has not even dealt with the most important question: Where are the landfills?

Who provides the landfills in Lebanon? The State, the leader, or the company?

If the State has resigned from its responsibilities, or if it is powerless over them, or has decided to contract out the leader, then it can explicitly say that the required company is that of the region’s leader, the company where the landfill is located, since the landfill’s leader can impose it, and impose the company. The State then has to approve and secure the funds after having approved on a book of terms, set by the company; meaning, the leader.

Is there a book of terms in the world that does not state a location, and that does not estimate the cost, but leaves it related to the location?

The hygiene and wastes model is a sample of the state’s work, with the difference that there is cleanliness today. So, who knows how will it be managed from the future leaders of the country?
