“All small and large establishments dealing with food preparation and service should assign an employee to attend regular training on food safety,” Abu Faour said in a joint news conference with the unions of restaurants and touristic institutions to launch the “quality in food establishments and restaurants” program. The minister explained that shops which meet food safety standards and work in collaboration with the union will be provided with a certificate of quality by the ministry. Abu Faour last year launched a campaign to clean up the food industry, leading to the temporary or permanent closure of hundreds of establishments.
