Cold seasons do not necessarily rhyme with stopping physical activity outdoors. Pending the return of spring, it is enough to equip properly.
Although temperatures drop, you do not want to deprive you of your weekly jogging? Rest assured, it is possible to enjoy the sport outside despite the cold if they have good equipment, good physical shape and does not suffer from asthma because dry air may worsen symptoms.
Dressing well
You may need a few test sessions to find the perfect outfit, but never forget to cover your extremities: head, hands and feet. A cap or headband, gloves and good socks are indispensable. At the sports outfit, choose different layers rather than a big sweat. Start with a clothing stuck to the body, then thread fleece and, ultimately, choose a waterproof layer that is weather resistant and protects you from the wind.
However, avoid over dressing for not hot after a few minutes and to avoid sweat excessively while the outside air is cold.
Running in the snow
If you plan to go running after a snowfall, you should equip you special shoes, crampons, not to slip on the ice. Remember to take your sunglasses to protect your eyes from reflected sunlight on snow and to limit contact between the cold wind and your eyes.
Hydrate and protect
In summer or winter, physical exertion causes sweating and, consequently, the risk of dehydration. Remember to drink water before, during and after the race. Your skin also needs to be moisturized. A day cream and a lip balm will help prevent chapping. Among others, with or without snow, remember to apply a layer of protection against ultraviolet rays before going out.
Adapting to the weather
Take a look at the weather forecast before you start. Running with a cold headwind is painful, as having feet in slush or mud. Once outside, adjust your pace to how your body reacts to the cold. At the first signs of slowing, slow pace.
